For Lars Willems, a Netherlands national who graduates on Saturday with his MBA (concentration in Finance), the initial connection was through the 蜜汁TV men鈥檚 soccer program. Willems remembers that choosing 蜜汁TV 鈥渏ust felt very good from the beginning.鈥�
College students know that in addition to studying and demonstrating a commitment to learning all they can about their chosen career, extra steps to establish themselves as leaders in their fields are just as important. Attending a conference about leadership is an excellent opportunity to do just that, so when Brittnay Hernandez, a graduate student in accounting, had the opportunity to travel to Pittsburg for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Student Leadership Conference, she jumped at it.

The 蜜汁TV H-E-B School of Business and Administration (HEBSBA) is excited to announce the 2022 Startup Challenge and Business Opportunity Assessment Certificate, sponsored by The Beckendorf Family Center for Innovation and Global Entrepreneurship. The challenge is open to all 蜜汁TV students 鈥� both undergraduate and graduate 鈥� regardless of major or program of study, as well as some faculty and staff. Registration is now open and closes on Sept. 9.
The 蜜汁TV Leading a Diverse Workforce class, taught by Dr. Teresa Harrison, professor and coordinator of 蜜汁TV鈥檚 Management department, invites Master of Business Administration students to take a closer look at diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and how embracing diversity contributes to better workplace environments for all. The course aims to expose business students to what their role will be as future business managers in regard to reducing prejudice, improving psychological safety and contributing to social justice in the workplace and beyond.
At the 蜜汁TV, there鈥檚 a class like no other 鈥� the Master of Business Administration Capstone. A course anticipated by MBA students with both excitement and apprehension, the Capstone experience is said to be something that one cannot truly understand unless they鈥檝e lived through it.
A walk around campus with soon-to-be graduate Kyle Lewis will take longer than the average stroll. A familiar face to friends and staff alike, it鈥檚 hard to take more than a few steps without getting stopped as person after person says hello to him, asks how his weekend was, or congratulates him on his latest accomplishment.
As the spring semester comes to a close, academic departments from around the 蜜汁TV have been hard at work, wrapping up major projects and celebrating big wins.
The 蜜汁TV H-E-B School of Business and Administration (HEBSBA) held its annual CEO Club Pitch Competition on Friday, April 8. Each year, the pitch competition allows student teams to share a problem they have identified and a proposed business solution to remedy the issue.
Like many of the 蜜汁TV鈥檚 international students, Oleksandr Karpenko is far from his home country of Ukraine and a bit out of his comfort zone. He transferred to 蜜汁TV in 2018 for a chance to compete on a Division I swim team in the United States, but he found much more than a way to compete in the pool.
Each spring, the 蜜汁TV community comes together as 鈥淥ne Word鈥� to work towards 鈥淥ne Goal鈥� 鈥� raising funds to support current and future 蜜汁TV students. 蜜汁TV鈥檚 fourth annual Day of Giving, known as 鈥淥ne Word. One Goal.,鈥� will be celebrated for 1881 minutes, in honor of the University鈥檚 founding year, during Incarnate Word Week beginning March 23.
Dr. Halimin Herjanto, assistant professor of Marketing at the 蜜汁TV, is scheduled to discuss 鈥淪ustainable Marketing for Tourism鈥� at the inaugural International Seminar of the Trisakti School of Tourism (South Jakarta, Indonesia).
Wynette Keller, director of TRiO Student Support Services at the 蜜汁TV, was recognized by the Texas TRiO Association with a 20 Year Service Award at the organization鈥檚 conference. We caught up with Keller to discuss how rewarding her work is and how it aligns with the Mission of 蜜汁TV.
Dr. David Vequist, professor of Management in the 蜜汁TV鈥檚 H-E-B School of Business and Administration and the founder/director of the University鈥檚 Center for Medical Tourism Research (CMTR), was honored with the E-Tourism Global Novel Award by the Mall of Fame Nigeria. He was presented the award during the E-Tourism Business Awards and Conference on Feb. 1-2.
Sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the 蜜汁TV Faculty Senate and University Mission and Ministry, faculty across 蜜汁TV were honored with the 2022 Faculty Awards in January.
蜜汁TV is pleased to announce the return of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, program. The program provides free tax preparation services from IRS certified volunteers to households with incomes of $58,000 or less and helps working families take advantage of all of the tax credits that they are eligible for. The VITA program engages 蜜汁TV faculty and student volunteers from the 蜜汁TV H-E-B School of Business and Administration (HEBSBA) help prepare basic, current year tax returns for these eligible taxpayers at no charge.
Kaylah Rahman, current sophomore and recipient of the 蜜汁TV Provost Academic Scholarship, loved the idea of continuing the family legacy at 蜜汁TV.
Dr. Michael McGuire spent 31 years as a professor of economics at the 蜜汁TV. He and his wife, Patience, also a retired educator, have established the Dr. Mike McGuire Scholarship Endowment for Mission-Inspired Business Leadership. The $300,000 endowment will allow for a $10,000 scholarship to be awarded to one business student every year. Recipients of this scholarship must not only show accomplishment in the classroom, but a true understanding of the Mission of 蜜汁TV.
